Two lovers fell admist a quarrel
a feud, long-standing
her tooth, his eye
so forth it tumbled,
the lovers beguiled
They stood together,
their comrades forced them
to part their ways
filling minds with dribble
he said, she said
an eye for an ear
a limbless placed fear.
Peaceful protest the two did try
but others jeered and added lies.
the loudest voice did travel far
stating lovers both said their goodbyes
bloodied fists and shrapnel’s piercing
none spoke truth
of the silent prayers
bloodbath followed years of courting
as boy and girl was forced from dating;
curled up in their little worlds
watching scarlet fever takeover worlds.
